A walk through the history of the coney culture in Flint (including the sauce recipe), special readings of Flint coney poems, Dan Hall singing his famous “The Angelo’s Songs”, and more…all served with “two up”, a bag of chips, and a drink!
The culture of Flint and Genesee County has long been defined by several things: automobiles, athletes, a blue collar work ethic, and a certain kind of food and service culture. It became known as the ‘coney island’ which identified both the kind of restaurants that operated and the signature food they served. Those restaurants and that food item became the famous Flint Coney Island Culture. It’s a delicious bit of history that has inspired music, books, art, and even poetry…and many a late night excursions for ‘two up with everything’!
The program will include:
-A walk through the history of the coney culture led by GCHS President (and devoted lifelong Coney Culture fanatic) Gary Fisher
-Music from Dan Hall who will sing his famous “The Angelo’s Song”
