Silent Movie Night

In the 1920s, silent films had become one of the most popular entertainment mediums. The Whaley Historic House Museum is excited to kick off our very own silent film screening series on Friday the 18th at 6:30 PM with a showing of the 1927 epoch “The King of Kings”.  This film highlights the extraordinary technological advancements made in the film industry throughout the 1920s, showcasing elaborate set designs, magnificent costumes, and (for the period) state-of-the-art film effects.

The film runs roughly 2 and a half hours, and just like audiences would have experienced 100 years ago, there will be an intermission. Your ticket includes popcorn and a beverage, with refills available for purchase in the lobby. The movie itself details a Hollywoodized interpretation of the final days and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and while the film itself has religious themes, the museum is showcasing it as a cinematic masterpiece relevant to the era of the house.
